Lunar
Imaging Seminars
The
moon is the most detailed object visible to amateur astronomers.
And, due to its size and brightness, it is also the easiest
celestial object to photograph. Nonetheless, lunar astrophotography
introduces challenges that need to be understood and overcome
to produce the best results.
The
2-part lunar imaging seminar at KW Telescope teach novices
how to take outstanding photographs of the moon using simple
equipment.
In Part 1 we discuss the various techniques for taking pictures
with vidoe cameras, digital point and shoot cameras, Digital
SLRs and CCDs. An imaging assignment is given at the end
of the class and those who wish to complete it are asked
to bring in their images for Part 2 of the meeting.
Part
2 is usually scheduled 4 to 6 weeks after Part 1 to allow
time for students to complete the assignments. Part 2 focuses
on data processing with emphasis on using the freeware Registax
to select, align and combine lunar images into completed
works or art!
