PUBLIC STAR PARTY - MAY 7, 2011 (if clear)

A star party is a great way to meet others interested in your hobby and to try a large variety of telescopes to compare styles and sizes. To celebrate International Astronomy Day we team up with other members of the KW Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada each Spring and Fall.

We meet near the band shelter in Waterloo Park. You can leave your vehicle in the parking lot near the softball diamonds, which are across David Bauer Drive from the Waterloo Rec Centre (entrance to parking is next to the Paramedics Station on Westmount Road).

2> KW Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada

The KW Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society (KW RASC) is one of approximately 30 centres of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. It is a great resource for anyone involved in the hobby of astronomy, and a particularly great resource for anyone looking at getting into the hobby, or about to buy their first telescope.

The KW RASC meets twice each month. The general meeting is held at Wilfrid Laurier University on the SECOND Friday of the month, excluding July and August. For meeting times and details please visit www.kw.rasc.ca

3> KW Centre Stargazer's 101 Group

The KW RASC also sponsors a beginners meeting under the name of Stargazer's 101. These meetings focus on issues for novices and are regularlly attended by a mix of highly experienced astronomers who are happy to help novices learn the ropes.

The 101 Group also has a keen observer's list so that those wishing to go observing on any given evening can find out who else is going out and where they are planning to go.
