A Photographic Celebration
of the Night Sky, 2010 Edition:

KW Telescope is pleased to announce its second annual astrophotography contest. This year some of our winning entries will be featured at Cosmomania, a summer-long event at the Museum in downtown Kitchener, Ontario.

Entry guidelines for the astrophotography contest are given below. If you have any questions please email them to Dr. Johnson (bradyj@kwtelescope.com).

Submission DEADLINE: June 30, 2010

Contest Rules:

1) You must reside in North America.
2) You may submit up to 5 photos in total, one per email.
3) More than one of your photos may be selected as a "winner".
4) Submissions must be sent in jpg or tif format via email and show the complete field of view (as selected by you). PLEASE KEEP FILE SIZES < 4 megabytes. If we need higher resolution files we will contact you.
5) If you do not own the rights to the photo(s) you plan to submit, you cannot submit it/them.
6) By submitting a photo for contest consideration you acknowledge personal ownership of the photo and grant us rights to use the photo for contest and exhibition purposes.
7) You do not have to be a customer of KW Telescope to enter the contest.
8) You do not have to be a member of an astronomy club or organization to enter the contest.
9) The photos you submit must have been taken and/or processed by you. If other individuals have been involved in the data acquisition or processing then that person(s) must receive due credit on the submission.
10) Submissions must be TELESCOPIC views of solar system or extra-solar objects.
11) Submissions must include details regarding acquisition including name(s) for photo credits, equipment used, date, time, and exposure details, subject name and identifications (e.g., catalogue number), plus complete contact details for the photographer. SUBMIT ONLY 1 IMAGE PER EMAIL UP TO A MAXIMUM of 5 and include the complete details on each submission.
12) All entries must be received by the contest closing.
13) All decisions by the judges are final.
14) Film astrophotographers must submit digitized images.

Eligible Photo Categories:

Please limit submissions to the following three categories. KW Telescope and its judging panel will decide which of the "best of category" photos will be included in public exhibits, including Cosmomania.

1) Lunar - 500 mm FL and up; Long focal length preferred
2) Planets - Long focal length required
3) Deep space Objects - 200 mm FL and up

DECISIONS OF THE JUDGES ARE FINAL. PRIZES WHERE APPLICABLE MUST BE ACCEPTED AS AWARDED OR DECLINED. NO ENTRIES RECEIVED AFTER THE POSTED DEADLINES WILL BE INCLUDED IN THIS CONTEST. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE RULES OR CONDITIONS, DON'T ENTER :-)
