Announcing Another KW Telescope Astrophotography Contest for Amateur Astronomers!

Back by popular demand! KW Telescope is holding another astrophotography contest for amateur astronomers. This year we are expanding the competition to include entries from amateur astronomers from anywhere in North America.

A selection of winning photos will be on display April through July 2010 at the Museum in downtown Kitchener as part of its summer spectacular Cosmomania Event! Thousands of people will be touring the exhibit. Will they be admiring your work?

This year submissions will be accepted for three categories:

1) Lunar Photography

As part of the Cosmomania exhibition the Kitchener Children's Museum will have on display moon rock samples on loan from NASA. Send in your best lunar photos. Winning entries will form part of this exhibit!

2) Planetary Photography

Send us your best images of Jupiter, Mars and Saturn! We are looking for maximum detail and resolution.

3) Deep Space

The doors are wide open for this category. You can submit photos of your favorite objects. Long or short focal lengths are welcome. Let's see if we can get the entire Messier list!

Winning Entries

Winning entries are those that make it to public display at Cosmomania and other public exhibits. We expect to put 50 or more photos on display, so there could be 50 or more winners. The photos will be printed and framed in 20 x 16 or 14 x 11 inch frames.

Winning Entries will be announced on our website shortly after contest closing, June 30, 2010.

What Can I Win?

The main prize is the honour of having your photography put on public display. However, we will also be giving away some hardware to the top picks in each category. Details to follow.

How much are the Entry Fees?

There are NO Entry Fees! In fact, we may even pay you for your entry. By submitting your photo you grant us the permission to reproduce it. If your photo is subsequently sold through one of our marketing channels you will earn commissions. Details are provided ONLY to entrants that KW Telescope selects to include in its commercial photography collection for 2010-2011.

What else do I need to know?

The contest closes June 30, 2010. Send tif or jpg files no greater than 4 megabytes each to the email address below:

NAME YOUR FILES AS FOLLOWS:

lastname_initial_x.tif where lastname is your lastname, initial is your first name initial, and x is the number of the submission (i.e., 1 through 5). SEND ONLY ONE FILE PER EMAIL.
